The Bald is Beautiful on Women website - celebrating beautiful bald-headed women since 1999.

The focus of this website is on women who have bald or shaved heads. The purpose is to explore the factors that motivate women in contemporary society to shave their heads, including curiosity, aesthetics, work (especially relevant to actresses and models), fun, rites of passage, or to raise funds for and awareness of charitable organizations (e.g., cancer research, alopecia). This site also honors those women who did not choose baldness (such as those with alopecia), but who are not afraid to show off their bald heads in public. In the process, through the various essays, links, and photos, Bald is Beautiful on Women intends to challenge long-held Western assumptions of beauty, and to examine recent cultural trends that have made bald heads on women more acceptable. Ultimately, the site's message is positive: these women are living proof that you can be beautiful bald, and that if you have tried or contemplated trying this look for yourself, you are not alone. Or, as has been stated elsewhere, you are not your hair.
